You will be doing plenty of harvesting by now. Even if your plants are producing more than you can possibly eat, keep picking! Especially the likes of courgettes and beans, which spoil so quickly if left on the plant.

Most freshly picked produce will be fine in the fridge for a few days, or you can try preserving and freezing things for the winter. Better still, share some of your harvest with your neighbours – it may make them more inclined to help with the watering next time you go on holiday.
