We accept and sell garden gift vouchers
National Garden Gift Vouchers The Horticultural Trades Association

After meeting during our horticulture studies at Pershore College, we spent several years working as professional gardeners and nursery managers but we always dreamed of setting up a nursery of our own. In June 1979 we finally achieved our ambition and The Plant Centre opened to the public.

Over the past 30 years the nursery has grown, developed and diversified. In the early days much of our time and energy went into growing fruit and veg for sale in greengrocers across the UK. This became less viable as supermarkets started importing cheaper produce so we began to focus on garden plants, particularly bedding. Today, we grow a wide range of garden plants and young vegetable plants for customers to transplant and enjoy in their own gardens. We also sell bird food as we believe caring for wildlife and gardening go hand-in-hand.

It has been interesting to watch things move full circle as consumers have become more aware of issues such as food miles and the problems associated with over-intensive growing. In recent years, we have begun growing some of our own vegetables again on a small scale to sell in our nursery shop.

Many things have changed since we first opened the nursery gates, but now as then, our main aim is to provide high-quality plants at reasonable prices. All of our plants are tended with care on the nursery and we won’t sell you anything that isn’t right for the season or for your own garden. For instance, if you use our professional planting service for hanging baskets and pots, we will keep them in our greenhouses until they are fully established and ready for you to display with pride outside your home or business.

  kind regards

Gardening is our trade and our passion. You are always guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome at the nursery
